Great Showing at the Trade Show!

Wow! I was so impressed with the quality booths displayed by the students at the 2010 Tahoma Bear Fair last night. Of course, I'm a little biased, but I thought that Global Academy students had some of the best booths in the whole show. From Cameros to fly fishing rods, the products were very interesting. However, my favorite part was not the products themselves, although I did enjoy some of the tasty samples, but the knowledgable and enthusiastic representatives. Thank you for all your hard work! I hope you are proud of what you accomplished.

Students and parents, how was the Trade Show project a quality learning experience? What did you learn, what challenges did you have to overcome, what moments were especially memorable? Thanks for sharing!

Blinded by the light

With summer just around the corner it seems like classwork and homework take the back seat to, well, just about anything. The sun, pollen and finals seem to change the chemical balance in us all. Teachers look forward to summer just as much or more than students mainly because students seem to be present only in body form in the classroom. However, there is still quality learning to be had even with the blinding light at the end of the tunnel. What are some ways that students, parents and teachers can increase the learning experience even with a few weeks left in the year?

Let's blog it out

What is the purpose of this blog? My hope is that it will enhance community, knowledge, dialogue, reading, writing, critical thinking, tech skills, humor and many other essential functions necessary for a classroom and a democracy. As a teacher of students who is tasked with focusing on social studies I am going to see how this blog can be used to make the learning experiment in room 101 at Tahoma High School a little more fun. We'll see!
